Year Abroad: Bonn

Bonn was the capital of West Germany before re-unification in 1990, and like most places in Germany during the winter it was bloody cold.

Known as the birthplace of Mozart, you can even visit his house. I’m unsure why it’s been painted pink though.

Bonn’s Christmas market takes place around a statue of the city’s most famous son in a very impressive town square.

Like most places in Germany (and indeed the world), the churches were the best looking buildings.

I’m guessing the Rhine looks better when it’s not misty. It was very impressive regardless. Unfortunately I was only in Bonn for a short time, I had an appointment with Cologne and it’s monstrous cathedral.
