I was still feeling pretty terrible when we arrived in
Poland to visit the Nazis’ most notorious concentration camp. Had it been any
other place I’d have stayed on the coach and slept, but I figured feeling a bit
sick was nothing in comparison to what people there had endured. What followed
is hard to put into words – I walked around in disbelief, as did everyone
there. It’s something everyone should see at least once in their life, if only
to give yourself some perspective.
“Arbeit macht frei” – Work will set you free.
Cremation ovens, where countless victims were burned.
The railway line leading into the camp. People were brought
here in cattle cars from all over Europe.
The remnants of one the gas chambers that killed over a
million people.
